Exciting News from Age Cymru Dyfed: Launching the 'Heart of the Community' Initiative!
At Age Cymru Dyfed, we believe that small acts of kindness can make a world of difference. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our brand-new Heart of the Community initiative! Thanks to funding from the Welsh Government’s Volunteering Wales Main Grants Scheme, administered by Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA), we are launching this impactful project to bring communities closer together.
What is Heart of the Community?
Our mission is simple: to support older people in local communities by coordinating dedicated volunteers who want to make a difference. Whether it’s offering a helping hand with daily tasks or providing companionship, this initiative is all about fostering strong, connected communities where everyone feels valued.
How Volunteers Can Help
Through the Heart of the Community initiative, volunteers can offer support in meaningful ways, including:
✔️ A friendly phone call to check in and say hello
✔️ Collecting prescriptions or running small errands
✔️ Helping with simple tasks like changing a lightbulb
✔️ Providing regular companionship and conversation
These small gestures can have a big impact on the well-being and independence of older individuals in our communities.
Want to Get Involved?
We’re looking for compassionate volunteers who want to give back and help make a positive change. If you’re interested in joining us, get in touch with our Volunteering Coordination Manager, Peter McIlroy.
