Peter Hamilton

We are proud to share that Peter Hamilton, current Chair of Age Cymru Dyfed, has been elected as the inaugural Chair of the newly formed Wales Network Steering Group. This marks an exciting milestone, not just for Peter, but for the future of collaborative support for older people across Wales.

The Wales Network Steering Group is a bold and progressive step towards reshaping how organisations in Wales—both local and national—work together to support older people. The Group has been set up to help develop and deliver a shared strategy, in line with the Age UK Shared Strategy, ensuring that Wales remains connected to broader national goals and initiatives.

While the Group will play a key strategic role, it's important to note that it does not have governance authority over the boards of trustees of its member organisations. Instead, its strength lies in collaboration—bringing together experience, insight, and energy from across the country to improve outcomes for older people.

Peter’s appointment was confirmed at the Group’s first meeting, and we couldn't be more thrilled to see him take on this vital role. His extensive experience—as a former trustee of Age Cymru and Age Cymru Sir Gâr, and now Chair of Age Cymru Dyfed—positions him perfectly to lead this new initiative.

Our CEO Simon Wright, shared his thoughts on Peter’s appointment:

“As CEO of Age Cymru Dyfed, I’m delighted that our Chair of Trustees, Peter Hamilton, has been elected as the inaugural chair of the Wales Network Group.

"Peter’s experience in having previously been a trustee of Age Cymru, Age Cymru Sir Gâr and now chair of Age Cymru Dyfed will be invaluable to the Group as it seeks to work collaboratively to provide support for older people across Wales.”

We look forward to the positive change this group will help drive, and we’re proud that Peter will be leading the way.
