PIC Tech Volunteer

Join us in our mission to combat digital exclusion by becoming a Tech Volunteer and playing a crucial role in helping older individuals to gain or re-gain their independance by equipping them with essential digital skills.

  • As a Tech Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact by visiting clients in their homes and empowering them to navigate technology confidently.

  • You will be helping to combat isolation by connecting clients online to their family and friends, assisting them in accessing essential online services, or engaging them in relaxing and fun activities such as online games, radio, and entertainment.

    The role:

  • You will be contacted by one of our Age UK Croydon PIC team members and given details of a referral.

  • If you accept the referral, an initial introduction visit to the client will be arranged, accompanied by a member of the PIC team. During this visit, you will discuss and agree on goals and timeframes.

  • You will then provide personalised technology assistance during subsequent visits.

  • This Service is Client-led and will depend on the demand in your local area. This role is flexible and you can arrange visits around your home and work commitments during the week and/or the weekend.

  • On average, each engagement runs for 4 hours over 3 or 4 weeks.

Skills and personal qualities:

  • Patient and empathetic communication with clients to address their individual needs and concerns

  • Commitment to promoting digital inclusion and empowering older adults to navigate technology confidently

  • Collaboration with team members to ensure effective support and coordination.

  • Adherence to organisation policies and procedures regarding client interaction and data privacy.
