Age UK Croydon Celebrates Amazing Volunteers!
Published on 01 June 2021 08:48 AM
Age UK Croydon will be celebrating the difference volunteers make to their organisation and thanking them for all their time and dedication during this year’s Volunteers’ Week, which runs from 1-7 June.
Volunteers at Age UK Croydon will be celebrating along with staff and supporters on Friday 4 June at their Awards Ceremony to mark the occasion.
Age UK Croydon is a local charity with a vision of a Croydon where everyone can love later life. With services spanning information and advice, health, wellbeing, falls prevention,
dementia support, one to one personal independence coordinators, and social activities, Age UK Croydon offers a holistic solution for older people to access the services they require in one place.
During Volunteers’ Week, Age UK Croydon will celebrate the valuable contribution of their volunteers by sharing quotes, photos and videos across their social media platforms. The highlight of the week will be their Awards Ceremony where the team will be joined by a distinguished guest, Madam Deputy Mayor, Cllr Felicity Flynn, who will be handing out the awards.
Age UK Croydon has a team of almost 150 volunteers, supporting their full range of services, from administration to befriending and gardening to tech support.
Nick Linney, Volunteer Manager said: “Volunteers’ Week is a special time for us. We have such a great team who support local, older people in so many ways – this is our chance to say a huge thank you to them and showcase the significant role they play in our work.”
Charities across the UK will also be holding events to thank their volunteers and celebrate the power of volunteering. Last year there were over 600 events across the country, from award ceremonies to tea parties and barbecues.
For many charities the week will be a chance to showcase the range of volunteering opportunities on offer. Volunteer fairs and other events will be encouraged people to try volunteering for the first time and help people find out how, through volunteering, they can make a difference to a cause they are passionate about.
