Volunteers' Awards and Afternoon Tea

Age UK Croydon thanked volunteers for their time, commitment and dedication at our yearly Volunteers' Celebration event. Star volunteers - those who have gone the extra mile this year - received a special thank you and a certificate, which was followed by afternoon tea, served by staff, to thank ALL volunteers, and to show our appreciation for all that they do.
Our events give volunteers the chance to meet those from other projects, and according to Laura Gomes, one of our newest befrenders, it was "nice to see and meet a couple of people, and some familiar faces - what a difference people make!"
This year we invited volunteers to bring a guest, and we will certainly do this again! Staff enjoy the opportunity to mix with volunteers from different teams too - as Jill Ward, a member of our senior management team, said:
"It was a really good event and all the volunteers were enjoying it. It was nice to see that some of them brought their husbands who were interested in what we do and there was a mix of old and new volunteers which was lovely. It was good to touch base with them and have a bit of time to sit and talk to them."
