YOU Made it Happen!

Every year on 1st October it is International Day of Older Persons, a date established by the United Nations in 1990. We threw our very own Older People’s Day event to celebrate this important date, treating members of the community to lunch and entertainment.  Short talks, an art display, choir, quiz, and live music filled the day, and Age UK staff members joined those attending for fun and dancing.

Our guest speaker was Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed, Councillor for Broad Green ward. Age UK Croydon was one of her nominated charities during her year as Mayor of Croydon.

This event was funded by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Croydon, who kindly match-funded donations raised by staff taking part in the Charity Walk for Peace earlier in the year.
