Trustee's Week 2024

Trustees Week is the time of year when we celebrate the amazing contribution made by trustees for their charities and recognise the difference they make. An opportunity to thank Trustee's for their time, commitment, and effort that they bring to Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire.
Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire asked their Trustee's to write a little bit about their role at the Charity. Here's what Margaret Egrot said:
'I joined the board as a trustee with Age UK Coventry. I was the chair when we went through the process of merging with Age UK Warwickshire, which meant getting up to speed on a whole range of new governance issues.
For the following two years I was co-chair with the Warwickshire chair, and within a year we were all caught up in the Covid pandemic which required learning a whole new set of skills, like chairing meetings over Zoom, and signing documents virtually or on the roof of my car as the CEO kept a safe distance at the bottom of the drive. It's more settled now, but never a dull moment!
Being a trustee is a delicate balance between taking overall responsibility for the governance of a charity, and ensuring that senior managers, staff, and volunteers have the right support for getting on with the job.'
