Loneliness Awareness Week 2023

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week and this year’s theme is Connection Matters🤝.

Age UK’s research shows that almost one million older people in the UK often feel lonely, so this week we are encouraging everyone to harness moments of connection with the older people around them.

At Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire, we provide befriending to over 160 clients across Coventry and Warwickshire and also support people who are feeling anxious or low in mood due to loneliness and isolation via our counselling service. We can also provide information on activities to encourage older people to engage in their local community and make connections. 

During the week, our befriending team held an Afternoon Tea Event at the Belgrade Theatre. Some of our befriending clients and other people from the local community were able to attend and come together and forge new friendships.

The event was a huge success and it was a privilege for staff to meet our guests and enjoy a very lovely afternoon.
