Carers' Week 2023

Published on 06 June 2023 01:47 PM

Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire marks Carers’ Week 2023.

Carers’ Week takes place between 5th and 11th June 2023. The theme of Carers’ Week 2023 is ‘recognising and supporting carers in the community’. The week aims to recognise the contribution unpaid carers make to society.

Carers’ week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

A Carers Week report on unpaid carer identification found that the vast majority of carers could be missing out on important information, support or advice that could make a real difference to their day-to-day lives. Lack of support can leave unpaid carers isolated; unable to take breaks from caring, struggling to look after their physical and mental health, stay in work or education, or manage financially.

At Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire, we can support carers in a number of ways: our Counselling service can help to support carers who are struggling in their role, our Dementia Day Opportunities and Home Support services that can help to give carers a respite break and our Information and Advice service, which can ensure that carers are accessing their full benefit entitlement and provide advice about care options and navigating the care system.
