Can't Wait for Care campaign - Update

In March 2023, our Chief Executive, Michael Garrett, wrote to Coventry and Warwickshire MPs, urging them to ask the Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, to use the Spring Budget to tackle social care backlogs. You can read the full article here.

Marcus Jones MP for Nuneaton, Arley and Hartshill sent our correspondence onto John Glen MP- the Minister responsible for public spending, ensuring that our campaigning for health and social care was brought to his attention.

Marcus Jones received a detailed reply from the Minister, which was forwarded to us-.

The Minister says:

'Health and social care remain key priorities for this Government. The Autumn Statement, in November, made available up to £2.8 billion in 2023-23 and £4.7 bn in 2024-25, in England, to support adult social care and get people  out of hospital on time and into appropriate care settings. This included £1 billion of new grant funding in 2023-24 and £1.7 billion in 2024-5, further flexibility for local authorities on council tax, and savings from delaying the rollout of adult social care charging reform from October 2023 to October 2025.'
