18 older residents made the trip from London to Coventry to experience the art and architecture of its iconic cathedral first hand. The idea for the trip was devised after a talk by Art Historian Alexandra Epps which took place at Golden Lane Community Centre in May. Epps' fascinatnig talk, covering the bombing and subsequent rebuilding of the cathedral, with its emphasis on new and exciting young artists and craftsmen, inspired many of her listeners to want to undertake the trip. The rebuilding of Coventry Cathedral is symbolic of post-war regeneration and reconciliation for so many people of this generation. The trip, which was funded by the National Lottery as part of Age UK CIty of London's CityWell project, was a great success.
