Contract: 1 Year fixed-term contract offered (with possibility of extension)
Location: Working across Cheshire East

Hours of Work: 25 hours per week Tuesday to Friday
Salary: £15,964.00 actual per year

Primary Purpose:
The Older Persons Scams Awareness & Aftercare Project has been operational since April 2020, primarily serving Cheshire East.
It is an award-winning initiative aimed at safeguarding older individuals from scams and doorstep crime while providing essential aftercare and support. The project is now expanding its services into Cheshire West & Chester.
The Project Support Worker will oversee the continued development and delivery of this vital service, working to raise awareness, prevent repeat victimisation, and provide aftercare to older victims. The role also involves recruiting and managing volunteers, collaborating with partners such as Trading Standards and the Police, and promoting the project through various channels.
Main Duties:
- Deliver information and awareness sessions to groups of older people, individuals, volunteers and people who support older people across Cheshire West & Chester to increase their awareness of scams/doorstep crime.
- Prepare information packs to give to delegates at awareness sessions
- Record quantitative questionnaire data on database
- Work with and support volunteers to deliver the project services and to ensure that they disseminate relevant information into their wider networks. To facilitate this, ensure all volunteers are provided with the necessary information and resources. Assist in new volunteer induction training. Provide weekly email updates to the volunteers.
- Source, book, and update the details of awareness sessions, disseminating relevant information to volunteers.
- Develop existing and establish new networks to identify groups and individuals who would benefit from the project’s services.
- Record data on our CRM database and complete monitoring forms from visits and awareness sessions, to enable the project to report on its success. Collect information for case studies and to promote the project’s services.
- Share information with the project team from awareness sessions and visits about current scams, to inform the monthly scams awareness update bulletin.
- Working closely with Trading Standards, Cheshire Police, adult safeguarding, and other agencies, provide one-to-one support to older victims of fraud, through home visits and community activities, to provide the aftercare needed and to reduce the chance of being a victim again.
- Encourage clients who are experiencing loneliness and social isolation because of their experiences of fraud to link back into their communities through their own interests relating to activities, groups, and volunteering.
- Attend meetings, training and other events with external local and national partners.
- Represent Age UK Cheshire at external meetings and events, promoting the project and its outcomes to a wider audience.
- Identify and share key learnings from the project to secure further funding and expand its reach.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience in supporting individuals to improve wellbeing and access services.
- Demonstrated success in achieving outcomes through inter-agency collaboration and partnerships.
- Confidence in promoting projects through various communication channels, events, and media.
- Ability to manage activities and meet defined targets and outcomes.
- Strong skills in maintaining accurate records and producing management information reports.
- Experience in recruiting, managing, and motivating volunteer groups.
- Person-centred approach with excellent listening and people skills.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
- Current, clean driving licence and insurance for business use.
- Proficiency in ICT, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and set priorities.
- Skilled in public speaking and presenting.
- Flexibility to work outside normal office hours when required.
