Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
We are delighted to have collaborated with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for this week's concert. The OAE visited our Henderson Court Hub in Hampstead in July 2020 for a socially distanced open air concert as part of their Musicians On Call workshops. The visit marked their first workshop since lockdown, so it was a real honour for us to host it.
We're so excited to share this wonderful performance with you, featuring their incredibly talented and knowledgeable musicians, Cherry (recorder), Waffy (clarinet) and Katie. (viola). Thank you OAE.
Here’s what the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment say about themselves:
More than three decades ago, a group of musicians took a good look at that curious institution we call the orchestra, and decided to start again from scratch. They began by throwing out the rulebook. Put a single conductor in charge? No way. Specialise in repertoire of a particular era? Too restricting. Perfect a work and then move on? Too lazy. The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment was born. Questioning. Challenging. Trailblazing.
