Today is Safer Internet Day and our Digital Support Officer Nik is here with his top tips on how to stay safe online!
- Beware of the QR code trap: The square barcodes we see everywhere aren't always what they seem - criminals can sabotage them, leading you to fake websites. If you're unsure, search for the company directly.
- Passwords: 123456 just won't cut it anymore. Password managers are your new best friend. Available in browsers like Firefox and Chrome, they generate super strong passwords and remember them for you. No more sticky notes stuck on your computer!
- You are the first line of defence against scams. If you receive unexpected messages demanding money or action, take a breath, read carefully, and research the sender. Trust your instincts, they're often right. If something doesn't add up - it's probably a scam.
