Remembering Katy Hepburn

Published on 07 August 2024 08:48 AM

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Katy Hepburn, a longstanding and passionate supporter of Age UK Camden and one of the daughters of our former Honorary President Margaret Hepburn.

Katy has been much involved in Age UK Camden over the years and was instrumental in the introduction of our Margaret Hepburn Volunteer Award as a way of acknowledging the outstanding contribution of volunteers to the work of the organisation.

The Margaret Hepburn Award was introduced in honour of Katy's mother, who was a very active figure in politically advocating for older people throughout her life, and had a long relationship with Age UK Camden, going back to the 1960’s. She was a founding member and the chair of the organisation for many years, and following her retirement from this role, she became The Honorary Life President of the Age UK Camden, until her death in 2016.

Following their mother's death, Katy and her sisters continued to support the organisation and attended our annual Volunteers' Week celebration on many occasions to present the Margaret Hepburn Award in honour of her mother, and to thank our volunteers and celebrate their work in their mother's name. Most recently Katy attended our June 2024 Volunteer Celebration.

Age UK Camden offers its sincerest condolences to Katy's family, and her sisters Alison and Harriet. The family are kindly asking people to donate to Age UK Camden in honour of Katy, and we greatly appreciate this great act of kindness. If you'd like to donate in honour of Katy, you can do so here.
