AUC Pop-up Restaurant: Haute Cuisine at Great Croft Centre

Published on 27 June 2019 04:28 PM

Head-chef of King’s Cross Michellin-starred restaurant The Gilbert Scott (part of the Marcus Wareing restaurant group) took over Age UK Camden’s Great Croft day centre last week for a mid-summer pop-up restaurant fundraiser.

Michael D’Adamo volunteered his time to create a haute cuisine menu that included duck & beetroot, pea angollti, and roasted cod, all prepared at AUC’s King’s Cross day centre for more than 40 paying guests.

The event raised more than £2000 towards improving the lives of older people in the borough of Camden.

“It was a good thing for me to share my love of food with people in the community, especially for such a good cause. Cooking in a different venue was new to me but Great Croft is lovely – and they grow their own vegetables!

“Being a Head Chef and working long hours, I don't always find the time to contribute to events run by charities. I am very excited to be able to help raise awareness of this wonderful organisation by doing what I love most - cooking!”

- Michael D'Adamo

Many thanks to Michael and his team from The Gilbert Scott for cooking such wonderful food and to Donna and her team from Habitat who dressed the centre.Thank you to HG Walter, Bethnal Green Fish Supplies, Wellocks and Natoora for donating the food and to everyone who volunteered on the night!
