Befriending volunteer Sarah (86) has been visiting Pam (96) for 2 years and they get on like a house on fire as they are both retired teachers. Pam's husband died 10 years ago. Her only relative is an older brother of 98 who lives in Hampshire and they speak occasionally on the phone.

It was hard for Sarah to stop visiting Pam due to Covid-19 but they both knew it was the right thing to-do. Sarah rings Pam nearly every day for a quick catch up and sends her postcards. Pam loves having Sarah as a companion and calls her, her 'life saver'.

During lockdown, Pam’s usual shopping support could not get to Pam. Sarah was really concerned, our Befriending Manager liaised with both and referred Pam for an emergency food parcel via AUC, delivered within 24 hours of the referral.
