I wouldn’t be here without Age UK Camden

Joan first came to us because of problems with her housing. It was very cold and damp, which was affecting her health. And, despite having the heating on all day and running up large bills, Joan had to take to her bed for most of the day to keep warm.

When Joan came to us she was desperate, she told us she couldn’t see herself surviving there. Our Information and Advice team worked with Joan and her housing association until Joan was rehoused. They also contacted Joan's energy supplier to make sure that her direct debit payments were not increased.

Joan said: “I wouldn’t be here without Age UK Camden. They offer so much information and support. From the coffee mornings to the advisers, as soon as you say hello at the front desk, the whole experience is so welcoming.

Now Joan comes to Age UK Camden for our coffee mornings and other events, like our Christmas party for people who we knew were spending Christmas Day alone. These events help people like Joan to feel more socially involved, which is particularly important over the festive period.
