Household Support Fund Update: 22nd July 24

Since its extension in March 2024, HSF has experienced significant demand for support, both through direct applications to the County Council and via the Trusted Partner Network. This demand has led to substantial expenditure and Cambridgeshire County Council now needs to take steps to effectively manage the funding allocated for Cambridgeshire to ensure the scheme does not become overspent. 

Applications for financial awards shall close at 9am on Friday 26 July 2024. Our HSF team shall be contacting people already on the waiting list after applications close to offer support with wider support needs.

Age UK Cambridgeshire & Peterborough continue to work in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council, administering the Household Support Fund 5 for Cambridgeshire residents aged 65 and over

We offer support for pensioners living in Cambridgeshire who are struggling financially.

Eligibility Criteria  

• Born on or before 31^st April 1958
• £24, 876 per single person living alone, £34,494 per couple/joint application
• Savings of up to £16,000 only 
• The support is set at 2 claims of £110 per person/Household

Receiving the Support

• Two x £110 per person/household within the six month extension period, can be paid by BACS payments direct to a current account (not savings accounts or Nationwide accounts), Supermarket vouchers, cash out codes to a mobile, Fuel top-ups to a mobile (except for British Gas, who are providing direct support to their customers)

• This is for people living in Cambridgeshire only, for Peterborough please see this update.
• Support from the Fund will not be paid on the same day – payments take between 4 and 7 working days.
• Our staff will not ask for the long bank card details or the security number on the card.
• Our staff will always give their full name and contact details, so the caller can make enquiries to verify who we are.
• We are happy to talk to family members or carers.
• We do ask for bank account details to make the payment – However, we only ask for the account number, sort code and name which appears on the account. This information will allow a deposit to be made into the account but cannot give access to make a withdrawal of money from the account.
• There are other methods of us getting the support to people. Food Vouchers, cash out codes to a mobile, Fuel top - ups to a mobile (except for British Gas, who are providing direct support to their customers).
