Sharing Time Award

We are pleased that our Sharing Time volunteers in the Huntingdon area recently received an award from the Hunts Forum of Voluntary Organisations.
Carol Cook, Sharing Time and Telephone Befriending Team leader, said:
We have a team of 52 volunteers in the Huntingdon area. Many of our volunteers have been with us for a number of years and have built solid friendships with their service users, The longest serving in this area has completed over 13 years of service both as a Sharing Time volunteer and as a Telephone Befriender.
The nomination highlighted the nature of this role in that the volunteer’s contact with their service user is conducted in the service user’s home, so their contribution is unseen by the wider community, but much appreciated by the service users and their families whose lives they enhance. Their role provides reassurance to families that their loved ones are seeing a trusted friend for conversation each week and is an invaluable source of support to the service user.
Whilst on this occasion the Huntingdon Sharing Time and Befriending team has been recognised, the volunteers in all of our districts play an equally important role in their communities, and our service users and us are grateful for everyone' s contribution.
Sharing Time Service
Our sharing time service aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation in later life by sharing time together, providing friendship and support.
