Ten ways you can be a Good Neighbour this Winter

1. Swap warming seasonal recipes with a neighbour – from winter soups to homemade stews– then make extra and share with them.

2. Snowing and planning on clearing your drive? Why not offer to do your neighbours?

3. Do you know how to knit? Could you and your neighbour knit some bobble hats for AGE UK’s Big Knit? Click here for knitting patterns.

4. Invite your neighbour round for a hot drink.mince pies and mulled wine

5. Have you sent a Christmas card to your neighbour?

6.  Ask a neighbour to help you or your children make some Christmas decorations.

7. If you're off to the shops to stock up for the dark nights ahead, ask a neighbour if they need anything picking up or if they would like to join you.

8. Ask your neighbour to help make gingerbread men or mince pies with you and share.

9. What are your plans for Christmas day? Why not invite your neighbour to join you? An invite is always nice at Christmas. (Kirklees fact  – 1 in 2 people over 75 lives alone)

10. Call in on a neighbour and see if they need anything to help keep them warm during the winter months. (Remember Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees have FREE winter home energy checks and an installation scheme for older people, perhaps you could tell them about it?)
