Jill's Story
David and Jean are two of our wonderful clients who have received a free tablet as part of our Get Connected project which helps older people navigate the digital world in order to stay in touch with friends and family. Alongside free tablets, we are also providing training where necessary in order to improve digital skills and confidence.
Our wonderful and friendly volunteers have continued to provide excellent befriending services over the telephone to older people who feel lonely or isolated. Older people can access weekly chats with our befrienders to discuss anything from concerns to general chit-chat. So far we have connected hundreds of clients with a befriender and helped make this past year less lonely. For more information about our befriending service, please feel free to contact us, check out our befriending page or look at our social media sites.
Need help with those small jobs that you used to do yourself, such as clearing your path, hanging a curtain rail or fixing a dripping tap? Our Handyperson service can help with these jobs and this is just one example of how we've been continuing to help throughout this year. We offer different levels of service in Calderdale and Kirklees as we receive funding from Kirklees Council to offer some services free of charge.
