Keeping-in-Touch Telephone Service
Keeping in Touch is our befriending service, linking older people who may not get the opportunity for a regular friendly chat, with one of our friendly telephone volunteers.
You’ll receive a weekly call, at a time that suits you, giving you the chance to chat and form new friendships over the phone.
Telephone Service supported by Age UK Bury Volunteers
The service was set up in 2020, during the first national lockdown of the pandemic. The scheme is open to people aged 50 and older and provides telephone support for people struggling with social isolation and loneliness.
The service is run by Steph Chesney-Bryce, who, together with twenty-two volunteers, call over 145 people a week. Some clients receive one call a week, and others may receive one every day, depending on their needs. The volunteers collectively donate over 100 hours per month. Volunteers range in age from 33 to 80+.
If you need this service or would like us to support a family member or friend, please
contact Steph on 07725 735811 or email steph@ageukbury.org.uk.
