BOOST Volunteer
Would you like to help someone rediscover the things they love doing or try new ones, grow in confidence, put a smile on their face?
What do BOOST Volunteers do?
Our BOOST volunteers work with older people who want to reconnect with their communities and interests, but may have lost some confidence or need some help doing this. This could be for a few weeks or sometime months as you support them to try something out.
It might be going with someone to a club, café or activity, it might be helping them with their transport or joining them on a trip.
This is a varied volunteer role helping people in different ways, seeing them get out again and enabling them to do the things they enjoy.
What you will get out of it
It's a great way to support older people making a make a real difference to their lives
This is a role with variety, every client is different and you’ll get a chance to go new places and try new things as well!
You'll be giving something back to your community
You get to be part of Age UK Buckinghamshire's volunteer team
Volunteers tell us they find BOOST Volunteering really rewarding and get lots out of it themselves.
What is expected of me?
We tell you about each assignment and ask if you’d like to take it up. You would then work with that older person for 1 – 2 hours a week. This is normally for a few weeks but can be up to 6 months.
Most of the time is spend at a community location or travelling there with your client. You are not expected to provide them with transport in your car.
Volunteers complete a short relevant training session and provide references.
