Digital Landline Switchover Drop-In Event (5/8/24)
Published on 17 July 2024 04:53 PM
Following the response to the information event at our High Street Charity Shop in May, members of the BT team are returning for a follow-up drop-in event:
- Monday 5th August 2024
- 12.30-4.00pm
- Main Hall at Amphlett Hall (B61 8DW)
to offer 1-2-1 sessions to address people's individual questions and concerns regarding the Digital Landline Switchover.
The team will be focusing on the solutions that are being offered by BT (and its related companies) but they will be able to provide an overview of the approaches being taken by Virgin Media, Talk Talk etc. and other providers (although they will not be able to offer advice/ answer specific questions regarding the approaches/ measures being taken by these providers).
There will be a waiting area at Amphlett Hall with refreshments whilst people are waiting to be seen, but please note that onsite parking is limited at Amphlett Hall (Public Car Parks are available nearby at Asda/ Recreation Road and Waitrose/ St John Street).
This is an industry-led change and people are being advised to contact their providers if they (or their family members):
- Have a care alarm, health pendant or security alarm that uses the telephone line
- Don’t own a mobile phone, or don't have enough signal at home to call the emergency services in a power cut
- Have a disability or any other needs that mean they might need extra help with the installation
so that they can be flagged on their provider's system to ensure that they are supported accordingly.
More information about the Digital Landline Switchover is available via the Worcestershire County Council and Ofcom websites, in addition to the national Age UK team.
