Chairman’s Charity Afternoon Tea Dance – You are invited!

Published on 16 August 2024 09:54 AM

Bromsgrove District Council Chairman, Councillor Sam Ammar, and Age UK BRWF are inviting members of the community to join them for a Charity Afternoon Tea Dance on Thursday 5th September (2-4pm)!

The event is being held at the Parkside Suite (B61 8DA) and will include a performance by vintage singer, Helen Pearson.

When she originally chose Age UK BRWF as her civic charity, Cllr Ammar spoke about the importance of preventing and tackling loneliness and isolation within our communities, especially as we get older, where life events and circumstances can make it harder to maintain those all-important social connections. Speaking about this event Cllr Ammar said, ‘"Social connections are the glue that holds communities together and the foundation upon which we build relationships, support systems, and a sense of belonging."

Over the years, Bromsgrove District Council has hosted several Afternoon Tea Dances, providing an opportunity for members of the community to come together to enjoy the music, to dance, to chat and to make new friends -it is hoped that this event will be as popular!

Tickets for the Afternoon Tea Dance are £5 (which includes cake and refreshments) and are available from Age UK BRWF’s High Street and Sidemoor (Providence Road) Charity Shops as well as by emailing Sharon Chaplin at s.chaplin@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk. All proceeds raised from the event will help to support Age UK BRWF’s local work (including its free Information & Advice and Befriending service). The charity is also seeking donations of Cakes and Raffle Prizes for the event. If you can help, please contact jo.hughes@ageukbrwf.org.uk
