The leg clinic is a weekly drop-in clinic for patients with lower leg wounds. It uses pioneering compression hosiery and wraps, to empower patients to be able to look after their wounds which in turn reduces reoccurrence rates.

Age UK Bristol supports the nurses in the clinic by ensuring people have a more relaxed experience, in a community and social setting. It’s not just a medical appointment, but is a chance to meet up with others who have the same condition, to get information and advice on a wide range of matters and to find out what is happening locally.

Who can attend?

The leg clinic is for patients of participating GP surgeries who have been referred for this specialist treatment for lower leg wounds.

Surgeries that are currently participating are:

  • Grange Road
  • Crest
  • Bedminster Family practice
  • Hillview
  • Hartwood
  • Merrywood practice
  • Lennard

What are the benefits?

Patients who attend clinics that use compression bandaging tend to see their wounds heal more quickly and have a reduced chance of reinfection.

It is a great opportunity for people to learn more about their condition and meet others with similar leg conditions.

Age UK Bristol ensures that the clinic is a friendly and welcoming experience by providing:

  • Refreshments and time for a chat
  • Information on a wide range of topics, from health and social care through to finances
  • Occasional speakers on topics of interest during the clinic

Where?
