Help us unlock £5,000 of funding

Age UK Bristol has been given a generous opportunity to raise up to £10,000 in matched funding to support older people this winter. An anonymous donor has come forward and offered to match up to £5,000 worth of donations between now and 15th November to help our services support older people over winter.
Each donation will go towards our Information & Advice Service to help us support older people in Bristol this winter. We all know that the cost of living crisis will make this a difficult winter but many older people will be disproportionately affected. Many older people have long-term health conditions that will be adversely affected by a cold home and limited income to cover the high cost of energy. We want to prevent people from deciding between heating and eating.
Our small team can help navigate the benefits system to see what people might be entitled to. We provide step by step support, from form filling through to appeals. Each year, our team raise over £1.5 million in additional money for older people in Bristol. This help is even more needed now.
We asked our anonymous donor why they decided to support Age UK Bristol, and they responded with a quote from Winston Churchill: 'We make a living by what we get … but we make a life by what we give.’ “I have achieved the first part of that quote, so giving now seems to be the natural thing to do. If my matching donation goes some way to helping Age UK Bristol continue to deliver its fantastic service then that's a win-win for its clients and for me as well.”
We would like to say a huge thank you to our anonymous donor for their generosity.
