The small grants fund is an opportunity to bid for up to £2,000 to support activities that promote the wellbeing of older people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
The fund is run by Connecting Communities, a legacy programme based on learning from the Bristol Ageing Better (BAB) programme. BAB previously ran a small grants fund between 2016 and 2019 which indicated positive changes for reduced isolation and loneliness as a result of the activities funded. Both the previous and current fund operate with an older people’s panel that assess the applications and ensure that the projects are co-designed by older people.
Bianca Rossetti, Project Manager of the fund said, “We’re delighted to be able to offer this funding, which uses the same successful model that worked so well for the BAB kick-start fund – giving older people the money they need to set up community activities and putting the decision-making in the hands of local older volunteers.”
The fund is open to any group, individual, or not-for-profit organisation and particularly encourages applications from people and groups who are unable to access other small funding pots.
The deadline to submit an application is Friday 27th May at 9am.
