Age UK Bradford District offers warm friendly spaces across six Community Hubs
This winter, Age UK Bradford District is opening its doors to offer Warm Friendly Spaces in six community hubs, providing a friendly environment where older people can connect, relax, and stay warm.
Each hub has activities and resources to meet the needs and interests of its local community and some of the opportunities on offer include:
- Shipley Hub: Enjoy jigsaws, delve into local history, or simply unwind in a welcoming space.
- Allerton Hub: Get creative with magazines, colouring books, and puzzles to keep minds active or have a chat with the team.
- Wrose Hub: Explore dementia-friendly craft boxes, access books for reading and reminiscing, and enjoy local history materials about Bradford. Magazines and puzzle books are sometimes available as well.
- Keighley Hub: Dive into jigsaws, enjoy a good book, or socialise with others in a warm, welcoming setting. Every Tuesday from 10am-12 noon there is a special “Remember When” group.
- Idle Hub: Browse Bradford-themed memory books or read a book from a wide selection. Join the information drop-in on Tuesdays from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
- Queensbury Hub: Drop in for information, browse a selection of books, and enjoy a friendly atmosphere.
These Warm Welcome Spaces are part of Age UK Bradford District’s commitment to supporting older people through the challenges of winter, fostering a sense of community, and helping to combat loneliness.
As Chief Executive, Mark Rounding explains, “We are proud to provide spaces where older people can feel safe, warm, and connected during the colder months. These hubs are more than just places to visit - they’re a lifeline for many in our local communities.”
