Age UK Bradford District has received a donation of £6,250 from health care cash plan provider Sovereign Health Care, to increase the capacity of information and advice services across the Bradford District. These services help older people access benefits they may not realise they are entitled to, such as attendance allowance and personal independence payments. In the last 12 months, Age UK Bradford District has enabled people to access £1.3 million of previously unclaimed benefits. and supported emergency heating through the delivery of warm packs and assistance with boiler repairs.
Mark Rounding, CEO of Age UK Bradford District said; "With the ongoing cost of living crisis, we are seeing an increase in the need for information and advice services district wide. Older people who have been managing to get by are now struggling to pay their bills as costs are rising."
Margaret Lawford, Quality and Contracts Manager added, "Our team is receiving such a high volume of calls that we are booked up weeks in advance. It's saddening that more people are finding themselves at a financial breaking point than we have previously seen and this donation will allow the Information & Advice team to help more people."
Neil McCallum, Chief Executive at Sovereign Health Care said: “Age UK Bradford play a vital role in supporting older people in the district and it’s rewarding to know our donation is going towards a service that can make a real difference in these difficult times.”
