Panto Fun

There was a day of joy and excitement for the Age UK Bradford District Buddies last week as they attended a lively and hugely entertaining pantomime performance of Pinocchio at the Alhambra Theatre. The event was a resounding success, bringing together members of the Buddy group for a memorable day filled with laughter, connection and fun.
For some, the outing held special significance. Joyce and Beryl, two of the attendees, revealed that this was their first time venturing out since before Christmas, making the day even more meaningful with the group arriving dressed to impress for the occasion.
The day wasn’t without surprises - just 15 minutes before the show began, a fire alarm required the entire audience to evacuate the building. While unexpected, the experience added to the day's sense of adventure.
Buddy Group attendees shared their thoughts on the outing with comments including: “I have been looking forward to this for weeks! And the show was spectacular!” and “Thank you Age UK Bradford District for taking the time to organise! It means so much.”
Age UK Bradford District’s Community Buddy Champion, Hadji Singh, coordinated and attended the session and added, "This was our first themed activity for Age UK Bradford District, and it was a fantastic success! A huge thank you goes to Bradford Theatres for their generous donation of complimentary tickets, which were greatly appreciated. We are also incredibly thankful to Laura Wood and Kristian Cleworth from the theatre for their invaluable support in making the day so special!".
The Bradford Buddy Scheme is funded through Bradford District Council and aims to build older people’s confidence to re-engage with their communities, interests and hobbies – or discover new ones. The scheme offers activities and events that are identified by older people themselves and also one to one buddying which enables people to do the activities or events that they enjoy.
