Befriending volunteer

Volunteer role description

As a befriender, you will provide company for a lonely older person in Bolton. We are looking for friendly, honest, reliable and caring people who can make a long-term commitment to visiting an older person.

Specific responsibilities 

• Make weekly visits to an older person who is socially isolated and/or housebound
• Visit a person in their own home for a cup of tea and a chat 

What we're looking for someone who is...

• Friendly and reliable
• A good listener
• Able to build a relationship with an older person
• Open-minded, avoiding judgement and stereotyping
• Willing to support a client face-to-face

Time requirements

We would be looking for people to commit to volunteering long-term if matched with a client. Times and days are flexible.
