Role Description

As a Strength and Balance support volunteer, you will play a crucial role in creating a warm and welcoming environment for older people joining our Age UK exercise classes. You will be responsible for various tasks to ensure the smooth running of the sessionsDepending on ability, you will also help with specific elements of running the class.  

Specific Responsibilities

  • Set up and preparation of the room 
  • Create a friendly and welcoming area 
  • Assist in serving hot drinks to clients 
  • Monitor the heated room during the winter months, ensuring it stays warm and comfortable, adjusting the heating if necessary 
  • Be available to have friendly chats with clients and provide any information the may need about other Age UK Bolton services 
  • Provide cool down stretches 
  • Keep the room clean and tidy and clear up at the end 

What We're Looking For 

  • An open-minded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotyping. 
  • A liking for and interest in working with older people 
  • Ability to work as part of a team. 
  • Willingness to attend training and other events and to be able to commit to regular volunteering hours. 
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (criminal records check) 

Time Requirements

We would ideally be looking for people to commit to volunteering for 2 - 3 hours each week on a weekday. Time and day of the week TBC.
