Dementia Group Volunteer
Role Description
We are looking for a compassionate and creative volunteer to join our team as a dementia group support volunteer. The role would involve working with a small group of clients affected by dementia, helping to facilitate activities and crafts. The group is a partnership between Age UK Bolton and Bolton Libraries and museums.
The dementia group runs weekly on a Monday at Little Lever Library 1pm – 2:30pm.
Specific Responsibilities
- Help with setting up the group
- Deliver wellbeing activities and smooth running of the group
- Plan weekly group activities
- Ensure that the group is delivered within a safe, welcoming environment
- Make refreshments for the group
- Complete registration and enrolment forms
- Clear up after the group
What We're Looking For
- An open-minded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotyping.
- A liking for and interest in working with older people, in particular those with dementia.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to attend training and other events and to be able to commit to regular volunteering hours.
- Creativity in making and creating crafts
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (criminal records check)
Time Requirements
We are looking for someone to make a weekly commitment, Mondays 1pm – 3pm.
