Role Description 

As a community volunteer you will play a crucial role in creating a warm and welcoming environment for older people in Little Lever, at Age UK Bolton’s weekly Village Voices singing group. The ability to sing is not essential, you will be responsible for various tasks to ensure the smooth running of the sessions.   

Village Voices takes place at St. Matthew's Church Hall in Little Lever, Wednesdays 1pm-3pm.  

Specific Requirements

  • Help with setting up the group  
  • Engage in conversation with group members, providing friendship and encouraging peer social interactions. 
  • Ensure that the group is delivered within a safe, welcoming environment 
  • Make refreshments for the group  
  • Help with tidying up after the group 
  • Complete registration and enrolment forms 

What We're Looking For

  • An open-minded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotyping 
  • A liking for and interest in working with older people 
  • Ability to work as part of a team 
  • Willingness to attend training and other events and to be able to commit to regular volunteering hours 
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (criminal records check) 

Tme Requirements

We would ideally be looking for people to commit to volunteering for 2 - 3 hours each week on a Wednesday afternoon.
