Volunteers play a vital role in all aspects of the Charity's work. Without them, many, if not all, of our services would cease to exist. Volunteers also work alongside staff members, and those who use our services, to improve what we do and how we do it. They also help to inform and shape the development of new services and initiatives.

Volunteer Roles

  • Befriender

    Do you have an hour a week for a brew and a chat? Could you bring some joy into the life of an older person in bolton?

  • Ageing Well Events Assistant

    Could you help to organise craft activities at our Friendship Cafe? Become an Ageing Well Events Assistant and help provide a valuable resource to older people in the local community.

  • Community Group Volunteer

    Help to create a warm and welcoming environment for older people in Little lever by volunteering at our weekly Village Voices singing group.

  • Strength & Balance Support

    As a Strength and Balance support volunteer, you will play a crucial role in creating a warm and welcoming environment for older people joining our Age UK exercise classes.

  • Home Admin: Blue Badge Volunteer

    Could you help to support older adults in Bolton by assisting them with the completion of Blue Badge applications within their own homes?

  • Dementia Group Volunteer

    Get involved with our dementia group in Little Lever, helping to facilitate crafts and activities for a small group of clients. 

  • Office Admin

    Could you provide general administrative support at our office in Bolton on an ad-hoc basis?

  • Wellbeing Group Volunteer

    As a wellbeing group volunteer, you will facilitate group sessions designed to improve the wellbeing of older residents in Little Lever.

  • Home from Hospital Volunteer

    Support older people to make a safe discharge from hospital, providing emotional and practical support to recover at home.

Volunteers are offered:

  • A detailed induction and introduction to the Charity's work
  • Ongoing support and guidance
  • A follow-up programme of in-service training, tailored to their individual needs and chosen voluntary activity

How to become an Age UK Bolton Volunteer:

You will find many roles on offer. If you click on each one above, the role description, any skills or qualifications required and time commitment will be detailed. Once you have an idea of the type of volunteering you would like to do, you will need to complete an application form. You can either download one from the link below or contact us on 01204 382411 and we can send one to you via email or through the post. Some of our roles require a DBS check, but all roles require you to provide at least 2 references.
