Our beginner Strength and Balance class.

Get Strong Get Steady is a 12-week programme of gentle, seated exercises specifically created to help participants gradually build up the strength to progress from seated to standing exercise.

The class is suited to individuals who:

  • May experience difficulty getting up and down from a chair without assistance
  • Are unable to walk for 5 minutes on level ground without needing a rest or walking aid
  • Have trouble climbing stairs without taking breaks
  • Are generally feeling weak
  • Are unsteady when standing
  • Have had several falls or mobility issues

How many sessions do I need to attend?

Get Strong Get Steady is designed as a 12-week course consisting of one class per week.

When you finish the course, you will receive a graduation certificate and be supported to join a higher level class, such as one of our Stay Strong Stay Steady classes.

Where do classes take place?

The class is delivered across two locations in Astley Bridge and Farnworth.

How do I sign up to the class?

To sign up, please complete an Application Form below. You will then be contacted by a member of the Strength and Balance Team, who will assess your suitability for the class and let you know if we have any available spaces.

Please note all classes must be pre-booked, and all new attendees must be assessed by a member of the team before attending any classes.
