Befriending volunteers

Do you have an hour or so to spare every week to visit or telephone an older person living in Blackburn with Darwen? 

We are looking for people to volunteer to befriend an older person who is isolated or housebound and has very little social interaction. We need people  who can commit to making a short telephone call each week from their home to a couple of people or can make a regular weekly visit for a chat or to support them to access local activities.

If you enjoy speaking to people - have great listening skills as well as the ability to keep a converastion going then we would love to hear from you.

This is a very rewarding role but does require a longer term commitment so is not suitable if you can only volunteer on a short term basis. Our volunteer befrienders form friendships with people that can last many years.
