Age UK Birmingham is taking part in the Christmas Challenge 2021 to raise £4,000 in just 1 week! These funds will be used to provide critical services and advice to people over the age of 50 across Birmingham, Dudley and Sandwell.

In December 2020, we launched our first Christmas campaign on the back of our emergency COVID appeal as we wanted to extend the level of support throughout the Christmas period. We delivered 200 gift hampers, made 96 befriending calls on Christmas day, delivered 165 Christmas meals and raised over £2,000 in donations.

Donations will be generously matched by our supporters, Moseley Golf Club & Big Give Champion The Reed Foundation during the campaign meaning your money can support twice as many older people.

Matt Daniels, Joint Interim CEO at Age UK Birmingham, said

"This year we’re hoping to raise a total of £4,000. In order to access the £2,000 we have in the matching pot, we need to raise £2,000 in online donations from 30th Nov – 7th Dec. This Campaign is so important for us to reach out to some of the most isolated and vulnerable older people, to let them know that people care and that we have a range of services and programmes to support the. It's also a fantastic opportunity for the community to really get into the spirit of Christmas and help those who may not be as fortunate as them”.

How can you get involved?

About Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday is a growing global movement now spanning five continents. But while the movement has an international reach, its beauty remains in its local appeal. The heart of #GivingTuesday is community action. The UK joined the movement in May 2014. The simple idea behind #GivingTuesday is to encourage people, charities and businesses to donate time, money or their voice to help a good cause.

#GivingTuesday, led in the UK by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), will take place on Tuesday 30 th November this year.
