Guided Community Walks
Age UK Bexley runs a walking group based in Danson Park. Join us to meet new people and keep active at the same time! The session is led by volunteers and will go at a pace suitable for the whole group. After each walk the group will go for a chat over tea or coffee.
Our walking group is free to attend (walkers to purchase their own refreshments).
Please note, all new clients need to be registered with Age UK Bexley before attending the walk. Click on the drop-down boxes below to find out more about the group and how to join.
Danson Park Walking Group
Every Tuesday 10:00am-12pm
Meeting Point: Danson Stables, Danson Park, Danson Road, Bexleyheath, DA6 8HL
Where possible, the group will split into two smaller groups to complete a longer and shorter route around the lake. Afterwards, everyone meets up at Danson Stables for tea or coffee.
How to Join:
To register your interest in joining, please call our main office on 0208 300 0883 or fill out our online form (On “Service Required”, please select “Active Living”).
Criteria for the Walking Group
Although the walks are gentle strolls, please note:
-
Walkers will need to be able to walk for 45 minutes without long breaks. Our volunteers can also not handle any clients and all clients will need to be able to walk unaided by a person.
-
Walkers need to be able to have the mental capacity to travel to and from the walk by themselves. If a client needs support to get to and from home safely, we may request they need to be supported on the walk by a family member, friend, or carer. Our volunteers are there to guide the walks, we cannot be responsible for getting clients home safely.
If you are unsure whether this activity is right for you, a friend or family member, please do get in touch and speak to one of the team.
Unfortunately, dogs are not welcome on our community walks, except for assistance dogs.
