£13.20 per hour (Reviewed in April)

Special Conditions:

Local travel during work will be required, for which mileage allowance or public transport costs will be paid. 

Full driving licence and access to a car is essential.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary, for which time off in lieu on an hour-by-hour basis is allowed.

The post is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Scheme check.

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

To be part of a new initiative in Wokingham Borough working towards making the Borough Dementia Friendly by developing, planning and delivering fun, interesting and engaging activities and information sessions for people with dementia and their carers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • To develop, administer, facilitate and deliver activities for people living with dementia and their carers to enjoy. These will include, but are not limited to, dementia cafés, dementia walks, singing groups and Maintenance cognitive stimulation therapy sessions.

 

  • Assess and review the success of the events particularly the opinions and needs of those attending the group and report any concerns to line manager/ liaise with carers/ family.

 

  • Ensure there is adequate staff/ volunteers at each activity and complete risk/ health and safety assessments as needed.

 

  • To deliver information sessions to people with dementia and their carers to help them to live well with dementia.

 

  • To provide information and support to people with dementia and their carers in relation to diagnosis, living with dementia, health and social care issues.

 

  • Using a variety of platforms but predominantly Microsoft applications and our own CRM to collect and analyse data which will provide information to demonstrate the achievement of milestones, monitoring, evaluation and reporting the success of the activities.

 

  • Liaise and work with dementia partners collaboratively.

 

  • Recruitment and management of volunteers at the activities.

 

  • To undertake relevant training to maintain skills and knowledge necessary for this post.
  • To comply with all Age UK Berkshire policies and procedures and with all relevant legislation.
  • To carry out other duties commensurate with the tasks and within the competence of the postholder.
