Two women talking at dementia groupRecognising the high demand for dementia services and the need to provide increasing choices to people living with dementia, we are launching a new group in Keynsham in November.

Aimed at over-60s who have recently been diagnosed with mild to moderate dementia, the group will provide hands-on activities based on Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) which exercises all areas of the brain. Research has shown MCST improves concentration, mental abilities, memory and the general quality of life. The group will be led by trained staff and volunteers and activities will include singing, movement, games, puzzles, music and current affairs, as well as simply enjoying each other’s company.

The day will also include a two-course hot lunch and transport to and from the venue.

Janet Dabbs, Age UK B&NES CEO, says: "We're really excited to be launching this new project which I'm sure will be successful, and hope to roll it out in Bath and Midsomer Norton in 2019."
