Befrienders needed to visit lonely older people at home

Could you spare just an hour a week to bring some joy back into an older person's life? Age UK BANES is looking for Befrienders in Keynsham, Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Paulton and surrounding villages to provide companionship and support to older people in their own home.
Loneliness is debilitating, particularly for older people who may be housebound due to health issues. By investing just an hour of their time every week Age UK BANES' Befriending volunteers make an immense difference to their wellbeing.
"It's put the spark back into Mum's life," says David, whose mother benefits from the Befriending service. "I can always tell when her befriender has been. Mum is just buzzing! She laughs and can't stop talking. Liz brings the world into her life."
Training and support is provided throughout the match, the only requirement made of Befrienders is that they commit to regular weekly visits.
To become a Befriender, email Jen at befriending@ageukbanes.co.uk or call 01225 466135.
