Volunteering
As a volunteer you could make a huge difference for an older person in the Barnsley Borough!
We have over 130 volunteers helping to provide a range of services to older people in the Barnsley Borough. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and volunteer with us for different reasons. They contribute in a variety of ways, depending on their own experiences and skills, enabling us to make a positive difference to the lives of others.
Volunteering roles are quite diverse, therefore we can appeal to a wide audience.
We can offer opportunities ranging from charity shop work, supporting craft sessions, driving and running errands, through to roles that support the day to day running of things like administration and fundraising or have a strong training element such as information & advice.
Despite having a large number of volunteers, we are constantly looking to recruit more willing helpers with a view to expanding and developing our services.
What you will get out of it?
- It's a great way to make a real difference to someone's life
- You'll be giving something to your community

What is expected of you?
Volunteers are expected to make a regular commitment of time: this varies from 30 minutes to a few hours depending on the role.
Volunteers will need to provide references, and some roles require a DBS check.
Volunteers will have a full induction into Age UK Barnsley and you may also need to attend training sessions to fulfil your role.
