Age UK Barnsley would like to say a huge congratulations and well done to Hattie, the winner of the charity’s ‘Name the Bear’ competition!
Hattie, 7, goes to Thurlstone Primary School and was successful in naming our huge mascot bear, who is now known as Bamboo!
The competition saw schools from right across Barnsley getting involved in the ‘Name the Bear’ contest alongside donating bags of pre-loved items for sale in Age UK Barnsley’s Eldon Street Charity Shop.
Commenting, Age UK Barnsley Chief Executive Debby Bunn said:
“I’d like to say a big congratulations to Hattie who was our lucky winner of the Name the Bear contest and offer my thanks to all of the schools, pupils and parents who got involved in our big donation drive.
“As a fiercely independent local charity, we rely on the generosity and kindness of local people to deliver our mission of making Barnsley the best place to grow older. Every penny that we receive in donations or sell through our shops goes towards supporting older people in our communities.”
