Barnsley Men in Sheds enjoy heartwarming Christmas meal

Volunteers and members from Barnsley Men in Sheds enjoyed a heartwarming Christmas meal at the Boatman’s Rest in Worsbrough, in memory of former member John Brakes who sadly passed away earlier this year.
One of John’s final wishes was that the proceeds raised from the collection at his funeral be used to pay for either a Christmas meal or fish & chips for his old mates at the Shed. The members chose to celebrate John’s life and friendship with a delicious meal at the Boatman’s Rest.
Commenting, Age UK Barnsley Chief Executive Debby Bunn said:
“It is so heartwarming that the ‘Shedders’ were able to celebrate John’s life and the contribution that he made during his time at Barnsley Men in Sheds.
“The Shed is a brilliant initiative that supports older men in Barnsley and enables them to learn new skills and socialise with likeminded folk. I would strongly encourage any men aged 50 and over to come along to Men in Sheds and give it a try.”
