Age UK Barnsley has been recognised by Barnsley Council as an Ambassador Organisation in helping to tackle the cost of living crisis and support vulnerable people in the Barnsley Borough.
Debby Bunn (Age UK Barnsley Chief Executive) and Natalie Stokes (Projects Manager) were presented with an award by the Mayor of Barnsley at a recent partnership event.
Commenting, Debby Bunn said:
“We are honoured to be recognised by Barnsley Council for the work that we have done in supporting older people in Barnsley throughout this current cost of living crisis.
“We know just how tough it is at present for older people, especially those on low incomes and without the support of friends and family – and that demand for services has created significant challenges on local organisations and providers like ours.
“Age UK Barnsley has risen to that challenge, however, providing a comprehensive Winter Support Programme to those in need – including slow cookers, winter warmth packs, home energy checks and much more besides.
“We are proud to work alongside Barnsley Council and other partners in the borough in a spirit of partnership working – delivering the best possible services for those Barnsley residents in greatest need of support. We will continue to work closely with providers across the borough to continue this essential work”
