Age UK Barnsley launch Handyperson and Gardening Services

Age UK Barnsley are delighted to announce the launch of a brand new Handyperson and Gardening Service to support Barnsley residents aged 50+ with basic DIY jobs and garden maintenance. Residents who are struggling with basic DIY jobs and maintaining their garden who need a little extra help are encouraged to contact our Handyperson/Gardening Service.

The Service will be officially launched at our Eldon Street Shop on Wednesday 22nd March, 10am-2pm. Please come along to find out more about the services we can provide.

“We are very pleased to be launching our Handyperson and Gardening Service and know that this will make a huge difference to older people who might be struggling with jobs around the house and in the garden.

Handyperson Services Available:

  • Key Safe Fitting
  • Fitting curtain rails and basic shelving
  • Fitting smoke detectors/carbon monoxide alarms
  • Fitting security items such as door chains
  • Hanging pictures and mirrors
  • Repairing loose fitting cupboard doors and drawers
  • Assembling/Dissembling flat pack furniture
  • Changing light bulbs
  • Moving furniture
  • Any other basic DIY jobs will be considered upon request

** Please note that this service is not intended to provide complex or skilled labour solutions and does not replace qualified tradespeople **

Please also note that this is a charged for service with a minimum 1 hour labour charge of £20 per hour plus VAT (incl VAT £24 per hour). Please note there will be an extra charge for any equipment/materials supplied. We would encourage you to fit in as many small jobs as possible within your hour appointment!
