Age UK Barnsley held a Love Later Life celebration event in the Rigby Suite at the Barnsley Metrodome on Friday 29th September.
The event brought to a close Love Later Life Week 2023, the annual celebration of the contribution that older people make to our communities and a commitment to the mission of making Barnsley the best possible place to grow older.
The Love Later Life event was opened by the Deputy Mayor of Barnsley, Councillor John Clarke and brought together a wide range of information stalls involving local organisations and providers, as well as wonderful live entertainment and a buffet lunch.
Commenting, Age UK Barnsley CEO and Age Friendly Barnsley Chair Debby Bunn said:
“We were absolutely thrilled and delighted to hold our annual celebration of older people once again for Love Later Life Week – celebrating the contribution that older residents make to the borough and promoting positive images of ageing.
“Love Later Life Week coincides with the International Day of Older Persons on Sunday 1st October, which this year had as its theme the role of older people in shaping their place.
“We are delighted to showcase the huge contribution that older people make to our communities in Barnsley and demonstrate the work we do, all year round, to make Barnsley the best possible place to grow older.”
